Personal History
Edward Charles McBain, was born in the early hours of a cold summer morning and had his lower eye cut by the laser scalpal being set too high as the umbilical cord to his mother was cut. This led to many problems with his sight until his left eye was replaced some 2 years later.
He was taught at home by his mother who did not believe the local school could teach her son any better than she. His Father, being a reputable Doctor insisted that he head to medical school as soon as he was able, when he entered the Glasgow Preparitory School fo rmedicine at 11 years old. Until then, Edward had never played sport, only stringed musical instruments. His first attempt at football led to near pitch riot when he scored three goals, all into his own sides net. In his first game of rugby, he suffered multiple rib fractures and a dislocated shoulder during a scrum collapse. Come the summer, when he played his second game of cricket, he was hit by the bat and duly broke his nose. He has never attempted any ball games since and stays out of trouble with his music.
He enjoys the classicals and was moved to tears by his first opera and has develped a passion for rendidtion, being able to play all the stringed instruments with some fluency, but he excels with a cello.
It was a hard decision at 15 years old, whether to continue with medicine or become a full time musician. He spent 3 weeks in discussions with his parents, with neither pushing him into making a decision he would regret. He eventually chose medicine and carried on his studies at Edinburgh College before entering Starfleet to continue his nurses training.
He was popular at the Academy but never one to stand out. His passed his exams, coming 15th out of a class of 30. He then entered service and has never been happier anywhere other than a sickbay.
He came to DS5, to study at the Medical Research Institute and is current the highest placed performer and is well on his way to his Counsellors degree.
